What We Do
Life Spring provides holistic palliative care to people of all ages with chronic or life threatening illness, to help them achieve the best quality of life. We also provide support for family and friends especially those in the carer role.
A Holistic Treatment Programme
It is our aim to create a holistic treatment programme, offering a wide range of complementary and alternative therapies, tailored for and centered around the individual and their family.
Life Spring will liaise, as appropriate, within the multidisciplinary team including complementary and orthodox health professionals, volunteers, school teachers, friends and family, to provide the highest quality care and broadest range of care.
Out team also aims to provide comfort and quality of life for people who are dying, as well as support for their families. If possible, we work to create a supportive environment to enable the person to live comfortably and be cared for in the familiar and reassuring surroundings of their own home or to facilitate transition from home to hospice or hospital if appropriate.
We hope to provide the tools and support to relieve the fear and suffering associated with loss. To facilitate adjustment to losses of advanced and terminal illness and to prevent problems associated with bereavement. We provide special support where the persons death may affect young children, or where the person is a child or adolescent.
Complementary and Alternative Therapies (CAM)
Many people affected by illness are now using one or more types of complementary and alternative therapy. Much of this activity takes place in the private sector here in Australia as provision within the orthodox healthcare system is limited.
We wish to provide complementary and alternative therapies to patients with chronic or life threatening illness with the aim to help improve quality of life, relieve physical symptoms and to ease emotional reactions to illness. The benefits of CAM, now supported by a considerable body of evidence, may be due to the effect of a particular therapy, together with providing extra time and attention, offering more opportunity for active participation and choice which altogether bring positive meaning to the experience of illness.
Our patients may choose to try more than one kind of therapy, at different times in the course of their illness. We would create a holistic treatment programme centered around the individual and their family.
The complementary and alternative therapies that we offer include:
- Homeopathy
- Naturopathy
- Lymphatic drainage
- Reflexology
- Massage
- Kinesiology
- Counselling
- Nutritional advice
- Spiritual healing through meditation and relaxation practices
Our practitioners are registered within their professions.
Please contact us for more information about the complementary and alternative therapies and if you would like to arrange for a complimentary consultation.
Our services do not include direct nursing care at present. We are aiming towards including this facility and hope to receive funding in order to do so in the future.
The service is currently available in Sydney's Lower North Shore and Northern Beaches.
The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.
